OUR TEAM

Hi! I’m Monique, Founder & Executive Director.

My journey with mental health was not something I went out looking for, but it kept impacting my life in different ways. In 2015 when I was in 2nd year university studying Public Health, many of my friends and family were struggling and receiving diagnoses that either helped them put a name to what they were feeling, or felt like they had been labelled and stigmatized. What was common was that none of them felt that they knew exactly where to go, who to speak to, and what services were right for them.

I started Care-2-Share in 2016 because I realized that while so many organizations exist to help people get the holistic care they need for mental illness and substance use, it can be really hard to navigate to them when you are dealing with these issues yourself. I wanted to bring these organizations together and help fill the gap between the siloes in our system. I also wanted people in our community to know that they have options! Whether its medication, meditation, behavioural therapies, counselling, exercise, or something else, everyone is unique and needs different tools to manage their wellbeing.

I firmly believe that there is no health without mental health, and that mental health impacts every aspect of our lives - but it should not impact our place in the world. We are all like cells in one giant organism and we all have our own special function. I want people who are struggling to know they are not alone, and to feel like they have a home in everyone else who also struggles. My hope is that together, we can make mental health a priority and give each other and future generations the tools to recognize and support one another.

Hi! I’m Hannah, Events Director & Marketing Consultant.

With an extensive background in communications, marketing, event planning, and non-profit leadership, I was driven to join the team thanks to the passion shared throughout the team.

Having worked with organizations like Destination Imagination, and now working with children and youth in the arts, I see the importance of spaces for young people to talk about, understand, and share their mental health experiences - and I know that can happen in many different ways.

I am pleased to bring my skills to this incredible team who has supported communities nationwide and beyond.

Hi! I’m Gaurav, Health Director & Technical Advisor.

As a medical resident in psychiatry, I am gaining a skillset to support individuals who are managing mental illnesses and substance use challenges.

I have worked and volunteered with physicians working in psychiatry and neurology, from both a clinical and a research perspective. I have led workshops and seen clients dealing with various mental health concerns, as well as their families and loved ones.

In my spare time, I enjoy learning more about holistic health and engaging in yoga and meditation practices. I like to try different techniques myself, so I can ensure I am giving the best recommendations and care to the patients I work with.

Care-2-Share has allowed me to employ my technical skills in writing for the blog and in building out this website.

Hi, I’m Jill! Sponsorship, Event & Creative Support.

Through running my own business, working full-time, pursuing a career working with children, and a life in the entertainment industry, I recognize the importance of prioritizing mental health.

I take PRIDE in my work with the LGBTQ2IA+ community, and am an advocate for safety and education in queer spaces.

Hi! I’m Alastair, Partnership Director.

I am currently doing my PhD research in the Department of Chemistry. Domestically committed to my research in analytical chemistry, I enjoy long walks on the beach and late nights in the lab. When I’m not pouring over excel spreadsheets (and softly crying) I can be found playing the trumpet, doing data analysis, singing in the Queen’s choir, or trying to make chemistry puns on Facebook.

Despite having a focus on the “hard” sciences, I know how important mental health services are for all people. Growing up, many of my friends dealt with various mental health challenges and at the time there was not the widespread understanding that we have reached today.

Everyone has mental health, and everyone deserves to be receive the best care possible for what they are dealing with.

Hi! I’m Petra, Outreach Director.

During my education in criminology at Simon Fraser University, I realized how important it is to support those who may be struggling with mental illness or substance use early on so they can get the help they need.

When Monique started this organization, I was so proud to support the goals and to reach out to young people and organizations that work to help them through challenging times.

The need for this kind of work became clearer when I took on a role with Children of The Street in Coquitlam supporting young people who were dealing with traumatic life events.

Through Care-2-Share I have been able to volunteer my time to advocate in community and to bring people together, and I have seen the impact this has on the individuals who attend and participate.
